How do you fill a sloping garden, we have a retaining concrete fence, would like to do it ourselves.?

we want it to be safe for the children so needs to be level. Have a TP play frame, hoping to put it on some play bark, with a patch of grass in front with a few flower beds and decking near the house, so the garden is accessable from the french doors. I would like to have paving at the left hand side. How would I do that? Any ideas would be very helpful. I want a dreamy safe garden. Thank you.

Funnily enough we are doing almost the same thing with our garden and have a delivery of sand and soil coming today.

Our garden is extremely unlevel and we are planning to make it level by tipping in sand on an area which we are having paved and soil on the area that is to be grass and decking.

I know that it would not be practical for you to put soil underneath the part where you are going to have play bark but maybe that area could be concreted whereas the rest of it could be soil to avoid any unecessary cost.

We are planning to do all of the work ourselves as it really does not seem to be that difficult however you need to be willing to be in the garden at every opportunity you have in order to get it prepared.

We have been working on ours for almost six weeks now and we are only just getting it all level.

I wish you the best of luck.x.
Reply:Bear in mind the loading on the concrete wall from the fill that you import to raise the levels...have you considered decking, can you use the top of the wall as a bearer for a deck?

If you are crafty, you can build in planting and swing structures and all sorts of good stuff...there's loads of books on decking around..

lastly...you could make little flat spaces on the slope and connect them with pathways and steps and then plant up the slopey gaps with dreamy plants ...good luck
Reply:depends on how high you need to go as to the pressure the concrete fence will take safety wise if i can help further contact me
Reply:why don't you split it into two levels? dig out the lower half and all the earth you dig out you can use to level the top half just build a wall across the middle to split the levels with a few steps, simple but effective and easier than levelling the whole lot! hope this helps. ;o)
