I'm planting a flower garden and I heard about putting down newspapers to stop the weeds, how is this done?

Gently dampen the newspaper and lay flat on the ground. Then carefully break a small hole to plant your flowers through. Then cover the newspaper with mulch as a cosmetic coverup.
Reply:You have to kill the weeds first. Use roundup, but let the ground sit for several days to make sure the roundup is completely gone before planting anything. Then I use the black landscaping fabric or newspapers over the dead weeds. Remember thought you need to pull weeds reguarly so they don't get estabilished.
