Could someone tell me what coffee grounds,& egge shell does for a flower garden?

Coffee grounds %26amp; egg shells add nutrients to the soil, keeps away slugs %26amp; snails, %26amp; (when mixed into the soil) is a good environment for earthworm activity. Egg shells are rich in calcium.

Coffee grounds are good for acid-loving plants. It also helps the soil retain moisture when it is mixed into it.

A lab test analysis showed that: "the grounds provide generous amounts of phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and copper.

They also release nitrogen into the soil as they degrade."

The full report is here:

Encircling your plants with coffee grounds %26amp; eggshells makes a barrier to repel snails %26amp; slugs, %26amp; works as a slow release fertilizer. If you are into vermi-posting, feed a little bit to your worms

The grounds are acidic so mix a tablespoon of garden lime into a five pound bag before you dig them into your garden or put them on the compost pile. In the garden, mix at a rate of five pounds per three square feet. For composting, mix at a ratio of five pounds per three cubic feet of yard waste.

Reply:Coffee grounds is a good source of nitrogen -acid loving plants- like Hibiscus,Hydrangeas

Roses and many other plants, also good for earthworms. Eggshells good in Calcium you can brake up the shells and put around plants to help kill slugs and snail
Reply:it is called a compost... the soil absorbs the nutrients from food materials.... you can add many things to a compost you have to allow for the material to breakdown before using in your garden....
