Thanks,

How can I tell what this flower is and is it a weed or not?
Not a weed! That is Muscari, also known as Grape Hyacinth.
Reply:that is a beautiful flower and remember that many plants considered weeds today were brought to this country by our ancestors as a bit of their homeland. tastes change and a weed or flower is in the eyes of the beholder.
Reply:IF YOU LIKE IT KEEP IT , DOES NOT MATTER IF ITS A WEEED OR NOT.
Reply:Some great plants can go to weed if they are allowed to.

dig it up and plant it where you want it to grow if you don't like where it is now.

I wonder if a plant is a weed every spring. A few years ago I decided that all those little weeds were "snow caps" and replanted them all over the garden. Boy was I mad when I discovered I planted "chick weed" all over the place.

Have fun gardening!
Reply:You can take the picture or the bloom to a local nursery, and they will be able to identify it. If they cannot, then try any of the Agricultural schools in your area. You may also want to check the local library for reference books on botany. They can generally give you a description and a photo, and then supply you with all of the information.
Reply:it is a flower; I've heard it called a bluebell.

It is grown from a bulb and comes up in the spring every year...
Reply:They call that a grape hyacynth...and it grows from a tiny bulb underground...cute! A weed is only a plant that you DON'T like...
Reply:RUB YR HAND ON THE LEAVES AHRD AND SMELL IT IF U GET WEED SMELL ITS WEED
Reply:It's a flower. I remember seeing them in my mom's garden growing up, but unfortunately I forgot the name.
